A construction- and energy-focused holding extends its multi-company HR landscape from SAP HCM to SuccessFactors

A holding company with businesses in construction, energy, textiles and finance across more than one country runs its SAP HCM payroll with IKSAP's ongoing support. The same team is implementing Employee Central, performance and potential assessment, and learning processes in SAP SuccessFactors in phases.

What was the starting point?

The holding's companies operate in very different fields, such as construction, energy distribution, textiles and finance, and in more than one country. Each company has its own incentive structure, pay rules and organization. The group wanted to manage this diversity in a single SAP HCM payroll while also moving employee data and talent processes to a common cloud platform.

What does payroll support cover?

Payroll accounts for the largest share of the support. Regional and disability employment incentives, private pension (BES) arrangements, child allowance, pay slip and payroll summary adaptations, payroll accounting postings and concurrent employment across group companies are managed by the same team. Net-to-gross payroll functions were set up for employees on international assignment, and the payroll processes of companies in different countries were analyzed.

On the SAP HCM side, E-Recruitment enhancements, employee and manager self-service screens on Fiori, organizational structure changes, and a project activity entry and approval application for the energy company are also in the support scope.

How is the move to SuccessFactors progressing?

Employee Central is being implemented in phases; each phase adds new companies and processes, and personnel action forms and leave management go live. The integration between Employee Central and SAP HCM payroll is operated to cover special cases such as company changes and rehires.

On the performance side, the calibration and potential assessment processes in SAP HCM are continued in SuccessFactors with potential, multi-rater assessment and development forms. In the Learning module, learning plans, classroom training and automatic notifications were set up.

Where does it stand today?

Payroll runs in SAP HCM and employee data and talent processes run in SuccessFactors, with the two systems working in an integrated way. Reporting requests, authorization definitions and new company setups are handled within the ongoing support model.

Assessment

In multi-sector, multi-country holdings, splitting the cloud move into phases preserves payroll stability while bringing new processes online in a controlled way. Involving the support team that knows payroll in integration design also helps special employment cases get designed correctly from the start.
